State Library Statistics Module

This State Library Statistics module presents selected national and state level data from the 2006 Public Libraries and the Internet survey conducted by the Information Use Management and Policy Institute and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the American Library Association.

The information available through this module is important for the state library community and policymakers at local, state, and federal levels, library funding agencies, and, the communities served by public libraries. The primary goal of this module is to provide users current information that describes public library activities in the networked environment.

Reports that result from using the module include selected variables presented in a template designed to facilitate report generation for advocacy purposes. This State Library Statistics module currently contains links to nine available variables for forty-six states whose libraries completed sufficient numbers of surveys.

Results include a table of statistics or graphs for each variable selected and will be saved in an interactive report template. Each graph has a text box beneath it so users can add their own descriptions based on their particular use of the data. Reports saved to the EDMS system will be available to creator upon next login for editing. Click here to see an example of a typical report (363K PDF):
